Offerings for the week of October 14, 2011

Basil, Sacred – One of the most important herbs in Ayurveda medicine.   Make a healing stress relieving tea or eat raw as regular basil.  $1.75/bunch

Beets - Candy Cane - $3/lb.  Grate on salads or roast with walnuts and sprinkle on feta cheese for a fabulous side dish.

Beets – Large Red - $3/lb or 5 for $3 with tops

Carrots - Yellow - $3/lb (2lbs with tops)

Carrots – Purple - $3/lb (2lbs with tops)

Carrots – Orange - $3/lb (2lbs with tops)

Carrots - Rainbow (purple, orange, and yellow) - $4.50/lb (2lbs with tops)

Cilantro - $1/bunch (max 60).  Great with tomatillos!

Cilantro (bulk) - Makes a great pesto alternative to basil that can be frozen.  Comes with recipe.  $20/shopping bag

Ground Cherries – Sunshine in it’s own natural wrapper!  Kids love them. Pineapple meets tomato!  As addictive as candy.  1 quart for $4 (max 50)

Parsley, Curly - $1/bunch (max 30)

Parsley, Curly (bulk) - $20/shopping bag full!  - makes a fabulous pesto that freezes well (recipe included).  Can also be dried or frozen to use all winter long.

Parsley.  Flat Leaf - $1/bunch (max 30)

Tomatillos - Makes an awesome green Mexican salsa, just add cilantro, onion, hot peppers, and lime juice!  A more sour tomato substitute.  1 quart for $4 (max 30)

Swiss Chard, small-leaf - 1/2 lb bag for $3 (max 20).  Super versatile vegetable.  A great alternative to spinach.  Can be used in casseroles, stir-fries, or eaten raw!  Delicious and nutritiousJ
